Over de Global Hydrogen Review

De Global Hydrogen Review is een jaarlijks rapport van het IEA. Het laat zien hoe de productie en vraag naar waterstof zich over de hele wereld ontwikkelen. Ook geeft het een overzicht van de nieuwste waterstofontwikkelingen rondom beleid, infrastructuur, handel, investeringen, technologie en innovatie.

Het rapport laat zien dat de sector sinds 2021 veel vooruitgang heeft geboekt. Toen ging het nog maar om een paar demonstratieprojecten. Nu zijn er wereldwijd meer dan 200 investeringen in projecten voor de productie van hernieuwbare en koolstofarme waterstof. Toch blijft de groei achter bij de verwachtingen die er aan het begin van het decennium waren. Bovendien verloopt die groei nog steeds onevenwichtig. Onzekerheden over kosten, gereedheid van infrastructuur en regelgeving die nog in ontwikkeling is, vormen obstakels voor een snellere uitrol van waterstof.

What is the Global Hydrogen Review?

The Global Hydrogen Review is an annual publication by the IEA that tracks hydrogen production and demand worldwide. It also highlights the latest developments in policy, infrastructure, trade, investments and innovation.

The review shows that the sector has progressed significantly since 2021. Low-emissions hydrogen production projects have gone from just a handful of demonstrations to more than 200 committed investments for projects. Nevertheless, growth has not met all of the expectations raised at the start of the decade and remains uneven. Uncertainties about costs, infrastructure readiness and evolving regulatory frameworks all present barriers to faster deployment of hydrogen.
